Greenwich Family YMCA Announces Robert B.
Goergen
Will Serve as Chairman of the Board of Directors
Greenwich, CT-September 12, 2007… The Greenwich Family YMCA is pleased to announce the selection of Robert B. Goergen as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Goergen is Founder, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Blyth, Inc. a NYSE listed company. Blyth, Inc. at $1.3 billion in sales, is a leading
multi-channel designer and marketer of home fragrance products, home décor products and household convenience items. He is also Chairman of The Ropart Group, a private equity investment firm.
Goergen has served on the YMCA Board of Directors for eight years, most recently serving as Vice Chair. Goergen has served on the Board of Trustees of the University of Rochester since 1982 and was Chairman from 1990 to 2003. Since 1997, Goergen has served on the Wharton School Board of Overseers of The University of Pennsylvania. In addition, Goergen is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, DC and a member of the National Gallery of Art Collectors Committee in Washington, DC. Goergen received his undergraduate degree in physics, graduating cum laude from the University of Rochester and received his MBA in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School.
Goergen's election comes at an exciting time for the Greenwich Family YMCA. The community organization recently hired a new President and CEO, Bernard M. Mucci. This fall, the YMCA will open a new 50-meter by 25-yard Olympic Pool and expand competitive and recreational programs for children, adults, seniors and individuals with special needs. The Y is in the midst of an expansion and renovation project which will bring Greenwich a centrally located childcare center, new gymnasium with racquetball and squash courts, teen fitness center, handicapped access throughout and restoration of the building's historical features.
